2005-12-23 - Merry Christmas
I just wanted to say a very Merry Christmas (not happy holidays) to everybody. I also wanted to say a huge thanks to all that supported us this last year. I am very excited about 2006 and what it will bring us. We are again heading to arizona in january for a 5 race series. We will be leaving friday january 13th and race on saturday and sunday, weds and then saturday and sunday of the next weekend. We should be home the 23rd of january. We will have a new motor to test with down there along with some new suspension components that will hopefully make us faster here at home when the regular season begins. I will update this site during the time we are down in arizona. Once again, Merry Christmas and a happy, safe and prosperous 2006
2005-11-29 - Sundays final races
Sunday was the final races and the $10k to win main event. Since we did lousy all weekend we had to do a pill draw to determine our starting position for one of the two last chance races. We drew a 54 which put us 20th out of 20 cars for that race. The race was 20 laps long and it started with the track being so dusty in 3&4 that it was like driving in pea soup. I literally could not see past the hood of my car and after running a couple of laps they red flagged the race and sent out the water truck to try and fix it. After mudding in that corner again, the race continued. Before racing that morning, we made the decision to change gears to see if we could get some more bottum end. What a difference a set of gears makes. This mopar just screamed out of the corners and we were able to go from 20th to 5th by the final lap. On the white flag lap, going into turn 1, two of the cars ahead of me tangled and spun. I went high to miss them and one of them gunned it and shot up the track and clipped my left front, breaking the tie rod. They did not throw the caution, so i just kept my foot in it and watched my left front flopping around while going down the back straightaway. Luckily it turned in the corner and we were able to transfer to the C-main. We started the C in 24th position and had to get into the top 14 in 15 laps to transfer to the B. We got to 15th by the time the flag fell and was told that i was the 1st alternate to tag the b-main. So we went out for the B-main and tagged the back to see if any of the scheduled cars would drop out. None did, so the flagger told us to hit the infield for the race which we did and on the parade lap, a car went off the track to the pits, so we jumped back into the car and got out in time for the green. Again, we started 24th and had to finish 14th or better to transfer to the a-main. Unfortunetely, we were a couple of laps short to tranfer. We made it up to 16th by the time the checkered fell, ending our weekend. I just wanted to say a big thanks to Mike (Zeus) and Seth for towing my race car down to arizona and for all the help they did. We are headed back down in January for another week of racing.
2005-11-29 - Trip home
We left the race track at 6:00pm and had pretty much an uneventful trip until we reached sacramento about 8am on monday morning. We had been following the weather and heard that the weather was pretty marginal from redding north. So, we stopped in Red Bluff and bought some chains for the truck and trailer and headed north. Just north of Redding it started to snow and within about 20 miles, we were required to p ut chains on. It was quite comical to watch us 3 put on the chains. It was like watching the 3 stooges in action. It took about an hour to do this. We continued on and pretty much had to stop every 10 minutes to re adjust the chains because they were making so much noise. Finally one side completly came off as did one side on the trailer. We took the rest off north of weed and made it to Yreka around 6pm and stopped at the Yreka Les Schwab to see if the could fix the chains that broke. They were able to and we headed up the mountain where again we were going to have to stop and put the chains back on..This time, we spotted a guy that was putting chains on for $20. This was the best $20 bucks i had spent all weekend. After tulling along at 20mph, we finally made it over the hill and got home about 7:30. 25 hours in that truck with two other guys was not something i really want to do again for a while. We were all pretty rank and sick of eating junk food and soda.
2005-11-26 - Saturday at Casa Grande
Well our woes that started this weekend continued to plague us again on saturday. We went to the track early to try to find out why the motor wasn't running. The nite before the starter had come loose and torn out a mount on the bellhousing. It took us almost 2 hours to fix that and at the same time we were trying to troubleshoot the motor. We weren't able to find anything and by the time we got the car ready to run for hotlaps, they were on the last session and we snuck in and were able to run a couple of laps. The motor was still only turning around 6000 rpm's. We lined up 8th in our heat and got up to 5th. In the second heat, we started 10th and worked our way up to 5th. In this race we found out (luckily) why the motor wasn't working right. One of our pit guys (i won't name any names but thankfully in this case, he did the right thing)forgot to tighten the nut that holds the air cleaner on the motor. On the first lap, the air cleaner came off and the motor came alive. It was turning around 7200 rpms again and running great. Turns out, the outerwear the runs over the air cleaner was plugged and not allowing air to get into the motor. We bought a new one and put it on for the c-main where we started 5th row outside and was running in 5th for the first 10 laps when i went in a little high in turn 1 and 2 and slid off the top of the track. That ended the nite for us and will have one more chance tomorrow to get into the show. We start towards the back of the c-main, which will have about 27 cars in it so we have 15 laps to pass 17 cars to transfer to the b-main.
2005-11-25 - Friday nite at casa grande
We got to casa grande and checked in along with about 80 other modifieds. I felt like we were behind the 8 ball all nite long. We went out for hot laps and on the first lap, the u-joint in our new drive shaft came out and destroyed it. Luckily, i had a spare and we put it in and went out for our first heat race. We started 2nd row inside and finished 4th. They took the winners of the heat races directly to the a qualifyer for the nite. The rest of us had to run another set of heat races. We started our second heat race 4th row inside and ended up in 3rd which transferred us to the b-main. We started 6th row outside and were holding our own when it started to feel like the motor was laying down. It had nothing out of the corners and i couldn't get the rpm's past 6200. Needless to say, we went backwards and ended up toward the back. Tomorrow is another day and we are going to check on some things to try to figure out what happened with the motor. I will update as soon as i can
2005-11-12 - Latest news
The pistons for the new motor did not get in in time, so i put the backup motor back in and will run it in arizona. I am leaving for Hawaii on this thursday and will fly into phoenix the following friday morning. Mike and Seth and Jake are driving the truck and trailer down and will pick me up at the airport. I will try to update this site after each nite of racing. We also just found out that they are having the early thaw again in january, so we are planning on going back down for that.
2005-10-25 - Latest news
I just pulled the motor out of the car this last weekend in preparation for the new monstor that is being built to run in Arizona over Thanksgiving weekend. We are building a small block stroker that will be 418 cubic inches and will use the current motor as a backup. I am heading to Hawaii the 17th of November and flying into Phoenix Az on the 25th to race in a $10k to win 3 day event that weekend. My pit guys are driving the truck and trailer down on thanksgiving and will meet me there. I will try to update this site each nite with the results.
2005-10-03 - Fernley Nevada Weekend
We got to the track saturday morning and had to say that we were pretty excited at what we saw. The track was long straighaways with tight corners and was smooth and dry slick. There was 68 mods that checked in and we had a pill draw to determine what starting position we would have for the qualifying heats. We drew a 15 and that put us on the outside pole of the second heat. In that heat was, Richard Papenhausen, Robert Miller (who has won this show the last two years), Jesse Williamson, and Scotty Lenz. Talk about a stacked field. When the green flag fell, we took off and never looked back. We won the heat which automatically put us into the show for the next nite. On Sunday, we got hot lap sessions and then got to sit around for six hours until the A-main. We started 4th row inside and when the green flag fell, we took off like a rocket. Passed Brian Poppa on the high side and ran down Wauge to put us up into 3rd. Ran with the second place car for about 25 laps until a yellow flag came out for a tangle on the backstretch. Turns out, i found out afterwards, that my car was smoking pretty heavily thruout the race. We had lost a rear seal on our tranny from the weekend before and just never fixed it (my bad) We had about 4 more cautions and i was noticing a small vibration when we would go to greens. The car just went away, i don't know if the tranny was starting to lock up or slip, but the car became a real handful. We got passed by miller on the next to last lap and ended up 4th for the nite. All in all, was great weekend. I think we are done for a while now. Might try to make the $10k to win in Arizona on thanksgiving weekend. All depends on the new motor being done by then.
2005-09-26 - Friday nite at yrekas $3k to win
The track on friday nite was super tacky and fast. We started our heat race in 12th and ended up 7th. This put us on the second to last row of the B-main. We got about 3 laps into the race when there was a big pile up going into turns 3-4. We got caught up in that and had our radiator punctured thus ending our nite early. We got the car fixed before the nite was over and will try again on Saturday nite.
2005-09-26 - Saturday nite for the $3k to win
Tonite was definetely a better nite for the F1 race team. The track started to dry out almost immedietely during the hot laps. We drew a terrible pill for our heat race line up again. We started last row again (9th) but this time was able to move forward. We passed Jesse Williamson (who is now driving for Ron Martin) for second spot with about 2 laps to go and held that spot until the checkered. This put us on the second row outside for the B-main. We got into third right away and had a great race with Bruce Rayburn Sr. for most of the race before he finally got me on the last lap. We finished 3rd and transferred to the big show. We started on the 8th row inside and slowly started working our way to the front. By the time the 25th lap came and they stopped us for the mid race break, we were in a solid 10th. We continued our way to the front and had a great race with Jeremy Richey for 5th for about 10 laps, we would swap places back and forth with him finally taking it for good on the checkered flag. We were very happy with the 6th place finish and will now get the car ready to head to Fernly Nevada for next weekends open show.
2005-09-20 - Satuday Sept 17th
We started outside pole of the heat race and led for the first 6 laps before getting passed by lenz coming out of 2. We took the white flag right on his rear bumper and got into turn 3 a little too high and spun off the track. We took a provisional to make it into the a-main, where on the second lap, a couple of cars got crossed up in front of me and i took the high line to miss them when one of them shot up the track into my door and shoved both of us hard into the back straight wall. The car suffered major sheet metal and frame damage. The car is over at the fabricators getting fixed. We are hoping to have it back together to race at the two day show in Yreka this coming weekend.
2005-09-19 - Saturday Sept 10th-Rained out
2005-08-29 - Saturday August 27th @ SOS
In our heat race we started 3rd row inside and ended up finishing in 5th. The car was loose and wasn't able to make up any ground. This put us on the pole for the B-main and won that by half a lap. That finish put us in the 9th row inside. The track was tacky up high with nothing coming out of the corners in 1 & 2 and good traction coming out of 4. We immedietely started working our way up to the front. By lap 15, we were in a solid 8th spot. Over the next 10 laps we were able to move around 3 more cars to finish in 5th for the nite. This is the 5th week in a row where we have been able to put the car in the trailer in one piece. We will be running the Lon Skinner race in medford this next friday/saturday with me pulling double duty in the pro stock (#81)and modified saturday nite.
2005-08-21 - Saturday August 13th at Cottage Grove
Tonite we timed in terribly and had to start at the back of the heat race. The track was dry slick and smooth and we started moving towards the front. After starting 5th row inside, we made it up to third before the checkered flag fell. We started the a-main in 14th place and ended up finishing in 11th. Just couldn't get the car to hook up enough to pass where everybody else wasn't. We put the car in the trailer in one piece.
2005-08-21 - Saturday nite at SOS
The track was a complete opposite of what it has been the last few weeks. They had the old track prep guy from last year preparing the track and he just spent the week soaking the heck out of it. The track was tacky and rough from the beginning. We started our heat race from the second row inside and ended up finishing third. That put on on the outside 4th row for the main. We got up to 5th right away and ended up finishing in 4th with only a few scrapes and bumps on the car. The motor was making a clicking noise from the valve train, so norm came over after the races and we tore the top end off to find that one of the roller lifters had gone bad. I am taking the car over to his shop sometime next week to get it repaired and should be back out next weekend.
2005-08-10 - Saturday Aug 6th
Sorry it took so long to update from saturday nite..Zues took the car and trailer out early because of a funeral that i had to go to and Chris hotlapped the car for me..I got there in time to make a few adjustments to the car before going out for the heat race. The track was still a little tacky and our car was way too tight. We started the heat in 4th and finished 5th and had to run the b-main. We started on the pole of the b-main beside estramado and ended up finishing second behind him. That put us on the 10th row of the A main. The car was really good and we slowly worked our way up the pack and finished in 8th place with only a pushed in right rear quarter panel. That is two races in a row where the car was hardly touched..Makes it really nice back at the shop having to only wash it and scale it for the next weeks race. We are heading up to Cottage Grove this saturday.
2005-07-25 - Saturday nite at Cottage Grove
We made the trip up to Cottage Grove to work out the bugs on the new car. We qualified 4th quick and put us in the dash. We started on the pole and won it. This put us on the pole for the fast heat and the track had gone away. We made a mad charge to the back of the pack where we finished 7th out of 8th. We did a lot of changes for the main and started again on the pole..Led for about half the race before the track went away even more and we had no forward bite. Made a late race charge to about 5th where we finished. Overall, the nite was a success. The car got put back in the trailer without a scratch and was happy with the way the car handled. We know what to do to the car to hook it up more next time. We are off this next weekend and will probably race at SOS the following weekend.
2005-07-22 - Friday July 22
We got the new BMS frame last friday nite and started on it Monday evening. With the help of Zues, my dad and uncle Ray, we finished the car today and are planning on running tomorrow at Cottage Grove to break it in.. Check out the photos section to see pictures of the progress of the new car
2005-07-12 - July 2nd
This was the first nite that SOS had the transponders and they had everybody time in during hot lap sessions. We timed in 16th out of 33 cars which put us on the outside pole of the 3rd heat. We ended up finishing second which started us 2nd row outside for the a-main. We were running top 5 at the halfway point of the a-main. We got passed by a couple of cars and was running 7th when hit a rut in 3 and slid off the top of the track..we restarted in the back of the pack and was running their when a car spun in front of us and we stopped to miss it and got piled into in the back end by another car. This put a hole in the fuel cell and ended our nite.
2005-07-12 - Tuesday July 12th
Just wanted to update the site and let everyone know what is going on. The new frame will be here friday sometime. We had hoped to get it earlier this week and put it together for the Ron Martin show up in Cottage Grove, but it wasn't meant to be. I am going to be running a limited schedule for the rest of the season due to burn out and wanting to spend more time with the family. I think the next race will probably be the 23rd of this month in either Yreka or Cottage Grove. I will update for sure when i have made up my mind.

2005-06-26 - Saturday June 25th
Well, the carnage at SOS continued tonite..We started our heat race 2nd row outside and finished second..The car was a little tight and not getting thru the corners very well. We made some changes for the a-main, where we started 3rd row outside and was in 4th within a couple of laps..the track was super rutted in both sets of corners and cars were bouncing all over the place. We worked our way up to second behind wauge, when on a restart we got passed by lenz and salyer..going into 3, lenz rear end broke and he stopped right in front of me. I had nowhere to go and sideboarded him, breaking my right front shock and killing the engine..we got it fired back up and headed to the pits to get the shock replaced. We went back out and started passing cars when on the white flag lap, jj johnson got squirrely coming out of 2 and hit my right front again, breaking the tie rod, we went off the track in 3-4 because of no steering and had to be towed to the pits..The track was terrible and over half the field ended up torn up or broken down. We are sitting out the next two weeks in preparation of getting the new frame. We are hoping to get the car together for the big Ron Martin race up in Cottage Grove on the 15 & 16th of July.....
2005-06-21 - Elma trip
We headed up to Elma for their $10k to win show. We qualified 25th out of 70 cars. In our first heat race, we started 4th and finished 4th. In the second heat race, we started 9th and ended up 3rd. We had to run the B-main on the qualifying nite and ended finishing second behind kellen chadwick and transferred to the A-main. Started 20th and got our way up to 9th before contact with a spinning out car broke an upper a-arm 3 laps from the end. Rather than pulling off, we stuck to the bottum groove and finished the race in 12th. This allowed us to accumulate enough points to transfer to the big show on saturday nite where we started 18th. We passed a couple of cars early in the race and going into turn one, i went in too hot and started to spin myself out. I got hit by two other cars and ended up breaking another upper a-arm. This time i was not able to continue and ended my nite right then. All in all, for the first time being up there, i was happy that we made the show and will hope for a better finish next year. We will be at Medford this coming weekend
2005-06-15 - Saturday Nite June 11th
Sorry it took so long to post the results for this saturday nite. We had a better nite altogether. We started our heat on the pole and won it. Started trophy dash inside second row and finished 3rd. We started the A-main 3rd row outside and within 3 laps were up to 3rd. Had several good battles with vinzant and skipper and eventually ended up finishing 5th. The track was tacky and very fast. The car definetely handled better after getting the rearend fixed. We are packing up and heading to Elma thursday morning for their $10k to win show. The weather does not look promising but we are still headed that way. I will post results as soon as i can.
2005-06-10 - Friday June 10th
We got the rear end straightened and are going to race at SOS on saturday nite just to make sure everything feels right in the car for Elma. After putting in the rearend and hooking up everything, the car felt better, all the binds that were in it the week before were now gone. Hopefully, we won't tear anything up and will be ready for Elma.
2005-06-05 - Saturday June 4th @ SOS
After taking last weekend off and trying to figure out if the bent frame could be fixed, (it couldn't) Jesse Williamson from Eugene called me up and offered my old chassis to me to use until a new one would be built. Jesse had bought my last years frame and hadn't done nothing with it.. We got it back on Weds nite and started tearing down the bent car and transferring all the parts to my old frame..We got it finished friday nite and took it out to the speedway for the saturday nite races.. We started our heat race on the pole and just went backwards. Turns out we have a bent rearend housing and was making the car handle terribly. We made some adjustments and went out to run the B-main and finished in the fourth and final transfer spot. We started the a-main in 20th and worked our way up to about 8th and finally finished in 10th. The car definetely does not handle like the new one did. We are taking off next weekend to get the rearend fixed and to fix a couple of other small bugs in preparation for Elmas $10k to win show in two weeks.
2005-05-23 - Saturday May 21st
Well, i wish i could post that we had another awesome weekend, but we did not..We started our heat 2nd row outside and got stuffed into the wall on the start..luckily it didn't hurt the car other than a front bumper. They did a complete restart and we got started and was running in 3rd when the guy behind me spun me out coming out of 2. We had to run the B-main. We won that over Dustin Jenks and transferred to the A-main. Let me preface all of this by informing that it took us 3 hours to mud in the track..I don't know what they were thinking but they way over watered the track and it was tacky for one groove and slimy and wet up high and down low. In the main, we were running mid pack when coming out of 2, there was a pileup that we couldn't avoid and we t-boned a car at speed and bent the front clip pretty bad, tore the motor loose from its mounts and tore up bunch of the rear suspension. The nite pretty much sucked and am hoping to have the car back together by next weekend. Am not sure where we are running yet. Medford is off, so the choices are Yreka, Cottage Grove or Elma Wa. Keep posted for updates.
2005-05-16 - Saturday May 14th
Today was the day we finally got the monkey off our back and got our first feature win. We went to Yreka for their last day race before they switch to nites. We started our heat race outside pole and chased Richard Pappenhausen to the checkers where we finished 2nd. We lined up the main starting 3rd row inside. We worked ourselves up to second and was following silva around the bottum groove for a few laps and found that i wasn't able to make up any ground on him so i decided to try the upper groove and see if that worked..Boy did it ever, we were passing him for the lead coming out of 4 when the yellow came out. On the restart, we jumped up high again and passed him within a couple of laps and never looked back. Pappenhausen finished behind us. We loaded up and flew on up to medford in the hopes of making the last heat race. We did and started outside pole..the track was super tacky and rough and we fell back to fourth, got around a couple of cars and going into 1, we went in too high and too hot and spun up off the track..we had to run the b-main, where we won that by half a lap over the rest of the field. We started 19th in the a-main and started right away to move to the front. by lap 14 they threw out the white flag due to rain starting to fall and we passed two cars out of 4 to finish 4th..all in all, the car is working great..Richard Pappenhausen helped us clear some things up on the car and right away noticed a huge diffence in the way that it handled. WE are running Yreka next weekend for the $1k to win show.
2005-05-08 - Saturday May 7th at Yreka
The rains held off on saturday and we were able to get in another day of racing..We started our heat race 2nd row inside and finished second behind Dennis Silva. The mains started us 3rd row outside. The track was super rough and rutted and we were able to put the car back in the trailer in one piece after finishing seventh. The guy who won it was also in a BMS chassis and he lapped the whole field up to 7th place..Man, he was flying. He shared some of his setup secrets with us so we will be making some changes to try to get the car to work a little better on the tacky rough tracks. We are planning on running at Medford next saturday, weather permitting
2005-05-02 - Saturday April 30
Saturday was actually a good nite of racing for us. We started our heat race second row outside and fell into third behind poppa and duste jr. followed them around until poppa spun out going into turn one and ended up finishing 2nd for that race. The track was rough, tacky and dry slick all in one so trying to figure out what to do for the main was a crap shoot. Chris made some adjustments and we started out 3rd row outside. Going into turn one was a pileup that we got involved in. Had to take the car back to the pits to make sure everything was ok. It checked out fine but had to start at back of main..We worked our way up to 5th and then up to third. They are using a texas style restart this season. What that means is that the leader starts out front in a row by himself and the remaining cars line up side by side behind him. This bunches up the field and makes you pass more. My car is terrible on restarts and i got shuffled back to 6th and had to work our way back up to third. We ran out of tearoffs about 13 laps from the end and luckily there were a few yellows that allowed me to clean off the visor during the yellows. The last green flag run lasted 5 laps and by the time the white came out, i couldn't see at all out of the visor so, we just settled in for 3rd and finished there. The car got pretty torn up, sheet metal wise, but was a good nite overall..We will be racing in Medford next weekend.
2005-04-23 - Friday April 22nd
we towed up to cottage grove last nite and ran in their season opener..remind me next year when we think about running on their opening nite..the track was the worst track i have ever been on..the corners were all torn to heck with deep ruts and bumps everywhere..we started our heat second row outside and finished 2nd behing Jesse Williamson. The main event started us 3rd row outside..we got up to 4th and were battling with gus cooper when coming out of turn 4, i was running the high line and gus was down low when his car hit a rut and literally threw him into the drivers side of my car which shot me directly onto the front straightaway wall. I have never taken a hit that hard before. we managed to get back to the pits where we assessed the damage. Lost both right side rims, broke a tie rod, lower a-arm, shock, j-bar. snapped a upper frame rail and lost the whole passenger side body.. All in all, not a good nite..We will try to get the car fixed to go to Yreka next saturday.
2005-04-23 - Cottage Grove
we towed up to cottage grove last nite and ran in their season opener..remind me next year when we think about running on their opening nite to not go..the track was the worst track i have ever been on..the corners were all torn to heck with deep ruts and bumps everywhere..we started our heat second row outside and finished 2nd behing Jesse Williamson. 2005-04-16 - Saturday April 16th
Well, mother nature won again today..We towed down to Yreka to run their day race. We got out to pack the track and start the hot lap session when it started to rain. We hung out for a while but the rains wouldn't stop..So we loaded up to head back up to southern oregon speedway and try it again..We got the car unloaded and headed out to pack the track when it started to rain again..they finally called the show and we loaded up and headed home for another exciting saturday of doing nothing. I have to say that both the Yreka track and the medford track look awesome..both were smooth and looked to be fast..Medford is having a test and tune on wedsday, so we will do some testing and try agin next weekend.
2005-03-25 - Friday March 25th
Well guess what...rained out again..Chico cancelled due to too much water in the pits..so we will sit another week and pray that there will be good weather next week..If weather permits, we will race at the season opener at Cottage Grove next weekend, if that fails, Medford and Yreka are both having play days weather permitting of course.
2005-03-19 - Saturday March 19th
We were supposed to head up to Cottage Grove today for their first test and tune but it got rained out..We will be traveling to Chico Ca next weekend to race in the big spring race. We got the Mopar back together and have picked up another major motor sponsor who has given us enough money to build a kick butt 415 cubic inch monster..We are hoping to have that motor done in time for the big $10k to win race up in Elma in June.

We have a practice day on the 19th of march up in cottaqe grove and will be racing there on their season opener on april 2nd

Just wanted to update everyone on what was going on..We are getting ready to race down in Hanford ca the 25 & 26th of february..They have a 2 day show. Got word back from the motor builder that there is no major damage from it overheating down in arizona. The heads got a little warped but said he will be able to machine them straight..We are going to run the chevy at hanford due to the mopar not being ready..We are going to head up to cottage grove the last two weekends of march for their play days and then start the season up there until Yreka goes to nites..They always start the season racing at noon on saturdays and i have committements that don't allow us to race at that time..I have mixed feelings about running medford..If they can get their track to be a little smoother, we will run a little bit at SOS. Will mostly run Yreka and Cottage Grove. Thats if for now..will update this site after each nite of racing next weekend.
2005-02-01 - Sunday Final day at AZ
We got rained out after hot laps on saturday, so we had to come back on Sunday..The day was warm and sunny and promised of being a fast slick track..We started our heat race on the outside pole with Terry Phillips and bumper jones starting behind us..We jumped out to a early lead and ended up winning the darn thing..Car was great. We drew for starting position for the A-main and ended up started 2nd row outside. The race started and we were hanging with the leaders in 4th, got passed by a couple of cars, had some cars slide off the track or break down. We were running in 8th with 2 to go and made a pass down low on the final lap to finish the 40 lap $5k to win finale in 7th place..We learned a lot about racing with guys who do it for a living and feel that we will be a lot faster here at home when the season starts..We are thinking about heading to New Mexico in early March to race in the $10k to win race down there. We will keep you posted.
2005-01-28 - Friday nite in Arizone
We have been just having really crappy luck in the pill draw..we started our heat race 12th out of 12 cars and worked our way up to 5th..They only transferred 3 out of the heats so we had to run the B-main. We started outside pole and led the first 2 laps and had a huge lead going when i went in the high groove and got up in the marbles and slid off the high side..I was able to get back into the race and was able to regroup when the yellow flag came out..We were in 12th place at that time and worked our way up to sixth to transfer to the A-main where we started dead last (24th) The track was dry slick and fast and we started picking off cars and were able to take home a 12th place finish..We race tomorrow at 1:00pm for the $5k to win race..If we don't tear up the car tomorrow, we will finish out the weekend at Canyon raceway and then drive straight thru home on sunday nite.
2005-01-26 - Wednsday January 26th-AZ
We got rained out tonite..forecast is calling for more rain tonite and ending tomorrow.
2005-01-25 - Tuesday January 25th-Day 2 in AZ
Last nite wasn't so hot for the PSI F1 Modified team..We started our heat race in the last row. After a few laps of racing we got in too high in turn 1 & 2 and went off the top side..They have rules that if you go off the track, you are done for that race. So, we had to start the b-main in the last row..we finished that race in 10th and transferred to the A-main. The car got really hot in the b-main, so we filled up the radiator again and headed out to the a-main..the car was fast and we were moving up..we got up to about 11th before the red lite came on from the water temp guage again and we had to call it quits for the nite..Turns out we blew a head gasket and had to retire the mopar for the rest of this race week. We took along another spare motor that we got from Rapps and finished putting it in today..We will race again weds. nite and will try to update the website afterwards.
2005-01-22 - Saturday January 22
Today we started our heat races on the outside pole and ended up finishing 4th...they only took the top two so we had to run the b-main..we started 9th and worked our way up to 3rd only to finish 5th..they took the top 6 and that started us 23rd out of 24..Just before the main event, they watered down the track so the first half of the track we were way to tight..by the last 10 laps, the tackiness was gone and we were able to run the high groove and ended up finishing 14th..We were very pleased with the first nites results. On the second lap of the main, we got caught up in a crash and bent the rear bar on the clip and bent the left rear rim..Chris and Jake were able to change the tire and we were able to finish the main..We are going to take sunday off to go thru the car and make sure nothing else was hurt..We will be back in action on Monday nite.
2005-01-21 - Friday nite 1-21-05
Just wanted to give a quick update as to what has been going on..We left for arizona on weds only to find out after being on the road for 8 hours that they had rescheduled the mods to run on the following monday and thursday..we goofed off on thursday and went to the late model race that nite..On friday nite, they let us hot lap in between the heats and mains. We went out for our first hot lap session and broke two of the four transmission mounts..we were able to put in a new one and made it out for the last hot lap session...HOLY CRAP!!!that track is fast...the straightaways are about the same length as SOS, but the corners are wide, long and banked..i have never gone that fast before but had a blast. We will be racing saturday afternoon so i will update it sat nite..
